Albatross and son

What started as a quick scribble ended up been this pic. The adavtange of drawing a bird from memory is that i didn't limit myself to what an actual albatross looks like. Im also experimenting wih hard lines from the lasso tool, as long as i don't over do it i think they look o.k. The colours then followed with a bit of photo ref. Then adjusting the hues and saturation to steer it towards that fun whimsical pixar-ish palatte. The story behind young hatchlling...dunno he's scared of heights or its his 1st day of flying:D

Destroyed Beauty

Here's one i did for a blog theme me and my art fellow artsistas put together- http://www.monolithart.blogspot.com/
The topic was 'destroyed beauty' so i came up with a fowl flower eating grub eating away. In contrast it frightens a sunflower fairy who was relaxing the sunflower petals playing with some butterflies.
I really wanted to do a warm color pallete for this one since most of my pieces have been on the coolish blue and bluegreen side. I wanted to limit the colors to be on the warm side of the color wheel so even the greens when color picked are on the orange and yellow ramp. Hope i achieved that:)
